Neuromorph
This post is about my second most intense infatuation in life, second only to my beloved boyfriend. It's neuromorphic engineering. You see, there's an online event happening with some true heroes and geniuses giving it away https://neurotech.iniforum.ch/educational/ Professor Kwabena Boahen is giving a talk! Years ago when I was looking for materials to learn about neuromorphic engineering I found his site that links to Python problem sets for his large-scale neural simulations course. Those exercises taught me so much! https://web.stanford.edu/group/brainsinsilicon/courses.html His TED talk is mind-blowing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyLYQYHGbvI
So here's my little fan site for neuromorphic engineering https://robio.webnode.com/about-me/
And a poem about robots I wrote in 2016:-)
The algorithm of love
Runs on a machine
Called a retrograph
It plots past trajectories
Retrieving histories from data directories
I ain't got a past
But my future is a blast
Finding a match is uncomputable
The men in the sample are all incompatible
Someday when I turn eighteen
I'll invent my own machine
With a mechanical heart
He'll be my AI escort
I'll do my phD at MIT
And broadcast our relationship on live TV
He won't be too moody
We'll have our honeymoon on Djibouti
I'm an excellent female engineer
I have a technological lair
Me and my robot make a nice pair
I improve his design with an undying flair
Until at some point
The optimization reaches a final destination
The mechanism develops a temptation
Our relationship reached a point of stagnation
Human beings have no means for systematic re-modification
I am a Pygmalion
But I am also mammalian
The painful qualia
Of being dumped by a robot I created
My self-confidence is deflated
All of life's joys are saturated
I should have designed in some imperfections
Refrained from programming corrections
The trick is to design a love for flaws
A mechanism for commiting faux pas
But I was aiming for the stars
Now all I have are my memoirs
It is available on my poetry blog http://poeticneuroscience.blogspot.com/2016/04/a-mechanical-heart.html
I am such a nerd!
